CORRAN FERRY UPDATE
Good afternoon from MCC. Police Scotland have been in touch with us today regarding the Corran Ferry.
Information from Highland Council to local police today is as follows.
“The relief vessel, the Maid of Glencoul broke down first thing this morning. It appears to be a serious
drive train issue. Unfortunately it is highly likely there will be no service for several weeks.
At present it looks like she will have to be towed to dry dock for repairs. If that is the case, it
could be that the main vessel, the MV Corran, is back first.”
The police are working with the Ambulance Service, Highland Council Roads Department as much possible to
attempt to manage the situation as best as possible and MCC have also been in touch with local councillors,
HIghland Council and our MSP to see what can be done about this situation. PC's Joany and Angie will be
patrolling the A861 Ardgour to Drumsallie route along with the Lochaliort route as much as they can in
the next few weeks.
Over the last few weeks and months MCC have been in close touch with Highland Councillors, contributed to
the relevant meetings and are exploring with the other community councillors across the peninsulas how we
can collectively lobby Scottish Government ensuring Morverns voice is heard. We have no further
information at present but will post again if and when we receive anything. Supporting each other through
car sharing etc clearly will be important in the coming days... If you have any queries please email
morverncc@gmail.com. And our apologies for the blight on such a beautiful sunny day.
