Local Place Plan
Following the success of the local action plan, Live Life Morvern, a local steering group made up of representatives of Morvern Community Council, Morvern Community Development Company, Morvern Games and Gala Week, CAOLAS, Morvern Community Woodlands and Killundine, has been working with Planning Aid Scotland on the Local Place Plan (LPP). They’ve undertaken a significant amount of community engagement throughout the production of the plan and in the last weeks the community has been invited to comment on the draft plan. This last consultation phase ended on the 5th December and the plan will now be sent to the Highland Council for approval. Henriette Laidlaw, of the LLP steering group said:
“ The steering group would like to thank the many who have taken the time to respond to the survey for the local place plan. We have been reviewing the feedback, it has been great to see the engagement from the many respondents to the proposals put forward. From our review we will complete the final Local Place Plan which will be submitted to Highland Council.
The Local Place Plan is a good place for us as a community to start prioritising for future developments. The steering committee would like to invite you all to a presentation of the final plan on January 21 in Lochaline Village Hall 7pm. Remember the proposals in the Local Place Plan is exactly that, proposals, to move forward with any of those we as a community will need to prioritise, find the funding etc.
We hope to see as many as possible join us.
The steering committee also wish to stress that all the comments to the proposals will form part of our final submission to Highland Council. It is also important to understand the local place plan consist of local proposals, any future development on Morvern will still have to seek planning permission as normal and as a resident you can still comment on plans as and if they are put forward for formal planning.
As the chair of the community council I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to the members of the steering, who have all given so generously of their time to this process, thank you Sam Firth, Megan Whyte, Douglas Taylor, Annabel Lawrence, Peter Lawson.”
MCDC would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the members of the steering group for their hard work throughout this process.
